I thought I was going to need my oars.
It felt like I was out of fuel. When I dropped back to under 5000rpms she took off as normal no problems back to the pier, except a very pale not so patient wife.

.
Took it out tried again and once over 5000rpms same thing.
I rebuilt carbs, pumps and replaced fuel lines earlier this year,so what have I done wrong?
I will be taking the carbs apart as I have a small drip from the bottom carb, float not set correctly methinks.
This may be daft but I used a fuel line a millimetre less bore than what was on it,6mm instead of 7mm.However the insert I used is a mil greater than the ones that were in it 6mm instead of 5mm,would this allow too much fuel delivered to quick causing her to try and choke herself? I'm referring to my merc800 here.

. Sounds more like fuel supply not excessive fuel."

never thought of that JB,and it's not as if I haven't read about it often enough on this board. But the beer was cold and the sun shone and calm seas, the first 72hrs straight dry hours since end of June.
I noticed last week the "gas"/petrol unleaded here is 95 octane, and I have read a lot about the harm it can do to fuel lines etc.,unfortunately we don't get a lot of choice on our octane levels.
Maybe it's time to change the bulb and line anyway. Thanks JB.,very much appreciated.
P.S. It's raining again today"

"Noel, you would pump the bulb

"Noel, you would pump the bulb to pressurize the fuel system while running. You are now acting as a fuel pump. If things get better and it runs at full tilt you would know it has something to do with the fuel supply. If it doesn't get better you would look somewhere else. This doesn't mean its time to change anything yet, its just troubleshooting 101. I thought maybe you would get the wife to do something other than serve as balast. I'm sure you already know what I'm saying.

PS don't let her read this, delete"
