I have a Moeller Volvo flusher

I have a Moeller Volvo flusher and it seems that it is very hard to get a proper fit cause the intake fins are SOO close the the front of the lower unit.shouldn't the muffs fit securely around the fins and have NO air leaks.when i turn mine on they leak around where the front most part if the intake fin!!i dont want to ruin anything!!

"I bought one of those short set of muffs also. I ended up putting them on the back of the shelf (had I been able to find the reciept, I would have returned them) and getting the 2 pcs mercruiser set of muffs. If has a 14 ga wire (or there's about) that passes thru the intack screens, then the other pcs slides on and is held in place with a stainless squeeze clamp. Then I use a sheet metal clamp to clamp them just forward of the drive. Very little leakage.

Now seriously, you won't ruin anything if there is enough flow of water. But rather than muffs, you may want to try immersing the outdrive in a large pail, then fill the pail with water and keep the garden hose filling it while you test the engine. That will work better than the muffs."

good idea EL P.. Thats what im gonna do plus with a large pal i do not have to plug that lower hole either which i never know what to put in it

A BIC pen cap works very well

A BIC pen cap works very well to plug the drain hole (even if the cap also has a tiny hole on it).

What works well is one of those big storage tubs with the snap on top...also handy for storing boat stuff in the off season. Be sure to remove the prop for safety reasons. When finished you will probably have to bail out much of the water before you will be able to dump the tub.

"I use a bungy cord, Long one, wrap it around twice and it does the trick. I use a 4 inch bolt wrapped in cloth E tape for the pisser and it works very well. Just an Idea shared.
