"I've been thinking, based on decals, that both my Lightwins are 1953's, but now thinking that I'll do complete restorations on them over the winter, and want to be sure. Both 3012's ser. #'s
15417 and 18197. Bet one of you can give me the for sure answer. Thanks in advance, I'd put on pics but it always says they are too big and I don't know how to make them smaller."

The OMC guyider book simply states the model number of 3012 as being in this range... 1952-1954

"Thanks, Joe. Places I checked for decals showed different for each of the three years, thought maybe ser. # might confirm. Guess I'll just assume nobody ever changed the decals. Thanks again."

"Joe,(and anyone interested), I have been told on another forum that Peter Hunn's old outboard book says that the 1952 lightwin ser. # were up to 09000, 1953 was 09001 - 34000 and 1954 was 34001 and up. Don't know, myself, but in case you're interested."
