"Two things.... 1. My old evinrude super14 14 hp motor is what year? Model HE14RSF, as near as I can see it would be 88 to 91 but can't seem to nail down the exact year. 2. Quadding question but marine types might have an answer...Any suggestions on how to remove a seized bolt from a muffler. Probably gotten wet over the years. Have tried WD 40 (vise grips) I've already stripped it. Thinking of taking a torch to it. I guess last course of action may be to drill it out. Any ideas out there. Thanks Norm"

"Your motor is a foreign built

"Your motor is a foreign built (Hong Kong) commercial model. So your model number and serial number (if you have it) are little help identifying the year - they simply did not encode it into either, so no real way to look it up.

As to your stuck bolt - yes, heat is probably a good way to go. If heated with a torch until very hot, you could try giving it a dash of cold water. Sometimes the quick change in temperature (and resulting contraction of the metal) will shock it loose enough that it can be turned out.

Good luck with it..."

"Sledderdoc, if you are still

"Sledderdoc, if you are still around, I managed to dig out some commercial listings that I didn't know I had in my mess of things.

Anyhow, you have a 1985 model..."

"Thanks Graham, you know I was

"Thanks Graham, you know I was looking around this site for manuals and noticed that a 14hp wasn't listed except for 88 to 91. Is it possible that mine is a 15hp with a commercial leg???? Wonder why they don't list every commercial model. Anyways thanks for lookin it up! Cheers Norm"

"I found an excellent set of commercial listing sheets that my Dad had given to me with a pile of other stuff when he retired.

Anyhow, the 14 horse commercial was built in all model years between 1981-1991 - mostly in Hong Kong.

Other than that I don't have any specs or anything on them. I do have some enteries in one of my OMC manuals regarding larger (over 70 horse)motors, and appears as only a couple of minor differences (some electrical) between them and the "retail" version.

My guess would be that yours is probably built on the same vintage 15 horse block, with very minor changes..."
