motor wont shut off

I have 1993 johnson 150 faststrike when I turn the key to shut motor off it keeps running all the motor does is slow down when I turn key back to on position the motor speeds up. I tried putting a new key switch in and motor still does it. Any help I would really appreciate.

You have a blown diode in the wiring on the motor for the stop system. Get a wiring diagram for the motor.

Changed it and it didn't fix problem. Now what?

I've had this happen to me and I don't have a wiring diagram. What is happening is when you turn the key off you're only dropping 3 cylinders and not 6 as you should. Look closely at the diagram for diodes.
