ive done it again, i always seem to do something stupid.
my motor always cranks great and runs great!!! the other day i was pressure washing it to get the dirt and grease off to get ready for a new paint job, well i went out to the lake last night for alittle fishing, and after about an hour and a half of trying to crank the motor, it just wouldnt start. its been two or three days since i pressure washed it, and ive done this before with no problem, but the only thing i can think of is maybe i got water in the carb. or something, any one else got any opinions, or ideas, or had a similar situation???

btw way its a 1978 35 hp elec. start.

no no no, i would never do that, i washed the outside of the motor with the cover on, i do this about twice a year to get the oil and grease off, from (mainly the lower unit) ive never had an issue in the past, my only concern is that i possibly got some water in the carb. as there is a hole below the carb. in the motor housing, im assuming this hole is there to let excess oil or gas leak out, or perhaps its where the engine gets air from.

Remove spark plugs. Crank engine over. Check compression, check spark, also observe to see if any water blows out of any cylinder.

Remove drain plug from carburetor to allow whatever is in there to drain out.

The hole under the carbuiretor is a air intake.

thanks joe, youre always a big help.
both cylinders hold 122 psi for over 20 minutes.
i have no spark on the plugs, i checked this by removing the plugs, putting them back in the boots and turning the motor over. i didnt see any spark. did i do this correctly? and what does it mean?

Disconnct large RED electrical plug at engine. Remove spark plugs.

Crank engine by using a small jumper wire from the positive battery cable terminal of the starter solenoid to the small 3/8" nut terminal of the solenoid that energizes the solenoid/starter.

If you now have spark, either a short exists within that RED plug or it's coincedential that the ignition switch has shorted out.

If still no spark..... hopefully you have an air compressor so that you can blow off/out all of the electrical connections (all of them) that may have shorted out due to moisture (WD40 may help). Don't overlook the powerpack connections (Remove the pack's cover). Let us know what you find.
