"Mark, definately a good serial number, but would make the motor a 92 vice a 94.

However, since the mid 80's, Merc simply used a serial instead of a model number. So despite being built in 92, if it was sitting at a dealer until 94 when it was sold, the dealer could call it a 94 and that wouldn't be "wrong"...."
