Motor Mounts 1992

I had briefly mentioned elsewhere in a comment that some PO decided to add about 100 lbs extra torque to the trunion bolts on one of my engines. It is becoming increasingly more apparant I may need to pull this one motor mount and work the bolt out of its' place. IF I can't remove it in its mounted position and decide to pull the mount, will it be sufficient with the tranny and v-drive hanging off the bellhouse, to just block the engine in place and do the job? Just wondering. Three other mounts will remain in place.

This FREAKIN job is merely a desire to move the engine slightly for an even closer alignment...should have left well enough alone. See what happens when you nothing else on the drawing board?

I haven't done that yet but had one in my hand last year and WOULD have done it that way. My plan was to use a scissor jack with a piece of wood to help distribute the load. I figured if the engine weighs 1,000, at most it needed to support was 250lbs. Maybe less if it's a front mount.

I don't think it would be a problem myself.

Bob,

Just reading your post at 10:15pm..... This is exactly what we did at 2:30 this afternoon. Instead of a scissor jack we were able to use the crappy little jack from my f-150 on the stringer and with merely hand effort, it lifted the compression off of the rubber mount and the piece came right out. Replacing the bracket that this bolt is stuck in as it turns out to be aluminum...I'm guessing dissimilar metals

Funny thing is we figured on the same weight values ... Anyway, she's ready for launch. Maybe if the lift is available this weekend we'll get her in.
