motor kills has forward/reverse applied.

just replaced the impeller and every thing look good until i went to put in forward. motor stop. If i just try to shift it a little even before it goes into gear the motor stops.

Maybe the shift int. switch is sticking, or the lower cable went.

Look on the engine...shift cable is connected to a cam and micro switch that kills the ignition momentarily when shifting out of gear. Shifting must be done quickley to prevent the engine from stalling.
