I have a problem that I am hop

I have a problem that I am hoping someone can help me with.About a week ago I had a dealer put a new gimble bearing in my in my out drive. Now my motor will not pick up water.I tried putting all the pressure that I could through my muffs and still no luck.Could this problem be cauled by the work I just had done? Thanks for your help.

"Is that the only thing done at that time? Are you sure everything in the water system was working prior to the work?

By itself, the gimbel bearing could be replaced without disturbing anything else, but if other work was done at same time the door is open."

No there was nothing else done

No there was nothing else done at that time.It ran fine and picked up water before it went and had work done.

"Well, at this point you are in the same boat as a few other current posts. You need to start by examining whether the impeller is good, the key is in place, the water lines are free of debris from old impellers, whether any water is making it to the input at the recirculating pump, thermostat housing not plugged with old impeller pieces, etc.
Suggest you run thru these steps and then let us know what you find.

By the way I am assuming that the driveshaft is actually turning - no stripped splines on the input shaft to the OD or in the coupler."

Ok I am going to look into all

Ok I am going to look into all the things that you have told me about.I will then get back to you with what I find.Yes the drive shaft is turning ok.thanks for your help.

"Hey just a thought but you might want to check the water intake hose from impeller to transom, I had a overheating prob last year and come to find out my hose was collapsing when running. Also that hose is a pain in the butt to get back on. Took me three times to finally get it tight enough to stay on when trim was all the way up.Hope this helps."

I worked on the boat today and

I worked on the boat today and found the line from the impeller housing to the main line going up through the transom was broken.I installed a hole new water pump kit and it had the parts needed to fix it.Thanks for all your help!!!!

"I HAVE AN HIGH RPM OVERHEATING PROBLEM ON MY MERCRUSIER 350 WITH BRAVO 3 OUTDRIVE. I NOTICED THE TEMP KEPS CLIMBING UNTILL THE OVERHEAT BUZZER GOES OFF APX 240 DEGREES, I SINCE CHANGED THE COMPLETE WATER PUMP, THERMOSTAT, FLUSHED ALL MOTOR LINES REVERSED. THE BOAT RUNS AT 120 AT LOW RPMSAND THE ENGINE COOLS DOWN ONCE I SLOW DOWN, I HAVE GOOD INCOMMING VOLUME TO THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING, I AM WONDERING IF MY EXHAUST COULD BE CLOGGED, I HAVE TRANSOM EXHAUST, I NOTICED THE EXHAUST MIGHT SOUND A BIT LOUDER. ANY SUGGESTIONS, THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP."

"What year? Fresh water coole

"What year? Fresh water cooled? Partial or full? Or raw water cooled, salt or not? How long since the risers and mans. been on the engine? Risers could be plugged. Was the old impeller intact or in pieces? A chunk could be blocking water flow."

"I just had a new out drive pump installed. When motor runs through the muffs it stays at cool ,but when I take it out it runs hot??? I have a full fresh water cooling system. I removed the stat and no difference."

Hello akowalewski
I had the same exact problem with one of my motors. and my problem was a broken impeller in my raw water pump. The garden hose has enough pressure to push past the broken impeller and cool the engine.
