"Johnny, sometimes only one piston will have it's rings rust to the cylinder. Pull the spark plugs spray some penetrating oil into each cylinder. Remove the transfer covers and inspect the rings. Wiggle the flywheel and try to figure out which pistons are rusted. Put a brass drift thru the plug hole and give it a smack with a hammer. Smack it sharply, but not hard. Once it loosens up you will most likely want to replace the rusted rings and hone the cylinder."

"its the rods for shifting and so on that are frozen, i took the lower unit apart to change the impeller and found the rods are frozen they won;t turn at all , will soaking it in transmission oil work ,or what do you suggest ?"

"the trans fluid has allot of detergent in it for cleaning, thats why I suggested it. It wont hurt to try but it sounds like someone stored the engine without changing the lube, which had water in it. Best of luck but I think a tear down is in your future."
