Motor bogging down at full throttle

#1 Tracker

New member
I own a 2003 Bass Tracker silver anniversary edition with the 75 hp three cylinder
I have recently removed and cleaned all the carburetors and replaced necessary gaskets rebuilt the fuel pump, installed new hose fuel line and pump ball drained the gas tank and put fresh fuel and have followed the Factory specs to adjust the carburetors. I have noticed that after running for a bit, the carburetors seem to be cold and have condensation on them. The motor will not go at full speed as this was the problem before I did all this work. It bogs down and sputters.
when going over wakes or movement in the boat, it seems to Run better as weird as this sound, but jumping up and down in the boat while driving is not very helpful
I have checked the compression. All three cylinders are good. Also have installed three new plugs. Any suggestions would be great.

When a liquid is vaporized it needs heat.---That is why the carburetors are COLD.----What are the actual compression values ?-------Does spark jump a gap of 3/8" on all 3 leads?-----Checked fuel pump diaphragm ?

I just rebuilt the fuel pump. It was cracked
I can definitely takeoff and check it again

The plugs are not gap able

Its been a awhile bit I believe all 3 cyl were in the 160 range
What is acceptable levels?

Thank you for the help 🙏
Im in Fort lauderale Florida
Trying to avoid extremely overpriced mechanic invoices

Does spark jump a gap of 3/8" on each lead , yes or no ?----Note, the sparkplugs or the type of sparkplug is not mentioned in that simple test.----Compression is low but that could be a faulty gauge.

Excuse my ignorance
How do I determine if my plug jumps a gap of 3/8
Do I remove plug from motor turn motor over and see how far the spark leeds to a ground??

Sparkplugs are not used in this test.----Go to your local automotive store and buy a gap test device.----Or make one with some wire , glue and cardboard.----Your motor may be running on 2 of 3 cylinders.----Up to you to do the testing.

As Racer said, you can make one, usually for free, from scraps. Here’s one I made. One wire end goes into sparkplug boot, (I used a short bit of 1/4” bolt as it sticks in the boot), the other, grounded anywhere, ( I usually bend it so it sticks in an empty sparkplug hole.
Set the two short ends 3/8” apart & pull it over. You should see a blue spark shoot across the the gap

Try another tester, lots of Amazon units are junk. Or, try the tester on a working engine, say your lawn mower…if it reads low your tester is no good.

With 80 / 90 PSI compression I would remove the exhaust covers to look at the pistons / rings.---How did this motor run for you last season?---What happened ?----Oil injection in service and tested ?-----Water pump impeller changed every 5 years ?--

Yea motor was always maintained 100%
This has escalated slowly it over a 2 year period. So I cleaned and rebuild carbs, fuel pump rebuild and water pump replace
I never assumed with the proper maintenance to check cylinder pressure

Ok thank you
Ill be working on that

Maybe you should check and see if your fuel filter is plugged. If water or bad fuel get in the canister or in the fuel filter no matter how much compression and spark you have the engine will bog down when hit with WOT
