moter & stern drive seperation

call me herkey does anyone have photoes of what to take off to seperate motor from stern drive

fairly simple, are you removing the engine or the out drive?

the drive is bolted to the transom assembly, the transom assembly is bolted to the boats transom and the engine is bolted to the transom housing.
You remove the outdrive first, then remove the engine

What year and drive do you have?

Ihave done the engine removalboth ways, out drive first then engine, and then remove engine with outdrive attatched, but the thing was a 4cyl. inline. I would say remove outdrive then engine, install engine then outdrive. If a big v8 the thing would have been rough with outdrive attatched.

Ayuh,..... So yer sayin' you've done it the Right way, 'n the Wrong way,..??....

The drive comes off 1st, 6 nuts, 'n the rams, 'n pull it,....

Then ya pull the motor,....

Goin' back in, ya mount the motor, Align it,...
Then slap the drive back on,.....

There is No other way to do it Right,....
