99' Johnson 225 H.O. (J225HPLEEN) Carbureted.

So, I've gone through a few checks and replacements.

Replaced the tach and the vacuum switch for low fuel pressure. I repaired any bad connectors going to the tach, I've checked the grounds and I'm still getting a random tach operation and engine horn.

Does the powerpack, rectifier/regulator, or stator have anything to do with those two. At one time I had the motor drop Rpm's on its own and was told it could be a heat problem to the powerpack causing that. Another thing I was just thinking about is what about the power relay? Could that have a sensitive connection making my gauges quit. One minute they all work then they dont.

There is no power relay.
The stator is the source of the signal on the grey wire to the tach AND the OMS pump.
If you have a stator problem it is possible for the tach to be intermittent and the horn to sound.

Your horn is controlled by the tach. There should be one of four lights that light when the horn sounds.
Which light is it?

The light is the "engine". It too is intermittent as with the horn, but it will sound at every start up.

What spark plugs are you using? I have found NGKs in SOME Johnrudes will cause the alarm system to act in the way yours is. If they are NGKs change them to Champion. The difference is in the suppressor they use in the plugs.

yes if your regulator is starting to go out you can start to have intermittent tach problems, dropinfg in and out. You need a infared thermometer to check temp to see if you are overheating(harbor freight), also a vacuum gage to see what your fuel pump is , (7HG) sets off vaucum switch.
this way you can narrow down the problem. I finally narrowed mine down to a faulty anti syphon valve and fuel tank pick up tube see what your battery charging voltage is also.
