"After a great response to my last question, I now
have another, told you so. Actually there are more than one, so here goes. The Evinrude range seems to start at 40hp, whereas there are Johnsons around with less. Have Johnsons stopped being made entirely or are they now the smaller end of the market? The other one is: Am I right in thinking that 2 stroke motors can be laid down
eg in the back of a vehicle for transporting without any ill effects, whereas a 4 stroke will leak oil?"

"BRP,did in fact, stop production on the small engs a cpl yrs ago....how long,or forever i dont know,i am out of the loop on the new eng info...but thats the craziest thing,i ever heard.....on the 4's,..u do lay it down on one sd...i cant rem which sd tho...i dont see any 4's.....maybe someone else, will know...this will put ur post on top again."

"Providing the carbs have been run empty, they may almost all be 'laid down'.
4-strokes on the opposite side of where the dip-stick is located."

"it appears,that the evinrude line,re-started making 25 up,this yr,in 09...looking at parts diagram section."

The 2 stroke engines..... Best

The 2 stroke engines..... Best to lay them on the throttle handle side (if a throttle handle exists).

Laying them on the shift handle side will result in a broken shift handle/

"Thanks guys. I went away for three days on Monday
with the intention of actually looking at some boats and engines insead of just looking at magazines and the internet.....and, er, was told by an Evinrude dealer there is now a 25 and 30hp version of the e-tec. Oddly enough, he also mentioned that in order to avoid novices, and a few others leaving the backs of their cars full of engine oil that many engines (with a tiller) have a small bulge on the side of the tiller to keep the head slightly higher than the foot, thus
avoiding embarassing stains. As an aside, just wondering if anyone knows (roughly) how much the prop for a medium sized outboard (40-75hp?) weighs?"
