" I had posted before that I needed a new forward, reverse gears, and a clutch dog for this motor(I also had him ship me the prop shaft from the motor the parts were coming from). I found one used and had it shipped to me. I also ordered one of the service manual from this site. However... After receiving the new parts and reading the book, it appears that my motor is the "C" model, and the parts that were sent me are from the "E" model. Me and buddy tried using these parts anyway, not being sure if they would work or not. Once we got the engine together, everything seemed fine until we tried to put the gear oil in. Then, we noticed that the seal between the bearing housing and the prop shaft was leaking.
So, there are now a couple of questions. What is the best wasy to fix this? Is it possible to intermix parts from the different models? Are the shafts from the different models a little differnt diamiter) I do not have a Mic to check this with)? Or,is it just the the oil seals are bad on my beraing housing? If I have the person send me the Bearing Housing from the motor that the parts came from, will it fit in my lower unit, or are there differences in the casings on these two models? Any advise that can be given would be greatly appriciated. "
