as mentioned,idid purchase a fly wheel ,,,,
when i recived it it was cracked,,,,,
so i put it on any ways to see what it will do,,
(i know that is risky) it ran until it seemed to foul the plugs out,,,removing the plugs i found the top cylinder plug to be very wet
and have a milky color to it,almost like there is water getting into that cylinder,is that possible?
i think there are some water jackets around that area,,or is it just that color because of the pre
ignition or being out of time?
maybe i need to stop now and take the motor for a loss,,,the gas in the can looks fine, also,,,
or do i have another problem in another area besides the cracked fly wheel??? a 1972 25RL72R
ser # E3607495 johnson sea horse ,, the bottom plug was wet as well,,,but not a milky color ,and after this how about the fly wheel nut tourque
spec,,,,

dont know where im sitting
because of that top milky plug,
is it worth it????
the water pump next?

thanks joe,,,

"Mark.... The flywheel torque

"Mark.... The flywheel torque specs for that engine is 40 to 45 foot pounds. That milky substance, from what you've said, in my opinion, sounds like your getting water in the cylinder. My first suspect would be a failing head gasket, with my second suspect being the inner exhaust baffle plate and/or gasket (the vertical plate on the side of the powerhead.)

No, pre-ignition, being out of time, bad adjustment, etc would have no relation to that milky subsstance.

I'd suggest removing the cylinder head and inspecting the gasket and also the sealing surfaces of the head and of the block.
