Hey all! First time poster, newbie to outboard stuff too!
So years ago, one of dad's customers (he owned an auto parts store) gave him an old Johnson outboard. It sat around for years, and now I've inherited the thing; however, it seems to be missing some parts.
It appears to be a model A (serial number A-4xxx), which I think dates it to 1922. I'm at work at the moment, so don't have photos; however, it appears to be missing the propeller, handle, and...I'd assume the air cleaner? In photos it looks like a tube that goes under the gas tank, and between the two cylinders.
I know absolutely nothing about this thing, can find barely any information about it, and (while I haven't looked at Ebay yet) can't seem to find any support for it.
Any tips or tricks for repairing, completing, or restoring this 100 year old thing? Is it worth it, or should I sell it off as-is? I'd like to be able to run it on a little rowboat or something, but don't know if it's worth the hassle of getting this thing running.
