Thanks in advance for any help, left my boat out with the motor trimmed up (for transport) and it rained 3inches last night. Went to clean it up this morning and the cowling had water in it. Is there a chance water got in the breather box on the front of the motor. If so what can be done? I have left the cowling off all day. Any help would be appreciated.

The extreme (outer) portion of the intake is the "silencer" assembly to help keep engine noise down - so really an insulated (box) if you like.

If you are super worried about water in there, the silencers can be removed and you could "dump them out" if they were flooded.

Unless you had so much water in the cowl that the air box was actually "under water", I don't think I would worry about it - just air dry it out like you are doing - nothing got sucked into the throttle bodies unless you tried to start it...
