my boat is 24 years old...I'm finding that I need to start replacing old worn wiring. I have had some issues with dash/instrument wiring.... the female part on spade connections are failing.

Also I replaced all of the battery cables as they seemed to fail....The boat stalled several times the battery seemed to go dead.....the cables were very hot to the touch......after I replaced them all seems well.

I do still have a problem.....every once in a while my starter will not tun over on the first try....I changed the ignition switch. cleaned all wires at the starter. I still have an problem....it's not the starter....there is no click....If I jump the starter with a screw driver it engages everytime..... I think it is in the wire that runs from the switch to the selonoid....does that make sense? What is the best way to nail this down?

What engine? Slave solenoid w

What engine? Slave solenoid will cause the NO START you have. Jump the top studs to see if it starts.

You can buy new wiring harness pigtails for the engine and dash to engine. Easy to install; comes pre labeled. That is what I did for my 87 4.3L.

1984 5.0 305 v8......when I jump the starter it cranks every time......I've never been stranded...I just know its not right....The dash light sockets have been a problem....I can find the 1/4 turn socket....the new version picks up power with positive and negative prongs on the socket making contact on the back of the instrament....mine has a pigtail that picks up hot....ground is through the prong on the back of the panel....I can re-work the socket.....but I'd rather have it be standard
