My son took out last weekend for 2 or 3 hours. then back on trailer and home. He said things went great. When I took a look at the engine getting ready to replace the tilt solenoids when they come in from MarineEngine.com I pulled out the dip stick and S''T the oil is a bit milky. Not real bad but. It is a 1985 3.0 I'm thinking a head gaskit is on it's way out.

What do you think? just changed oil , filter

Compression test first. Good compression then not the head gasket.

If you pull off the t-stat housing completely from the head and shine a light into the hole, poke the wall with a screwdriver you might fine that it rusted thru.

If that is indeed the case a new head. My 85' had the same problem and others also it is rather common.

Post back we will go from there.

Thanks will get back soon, I hope I did put in 40 oil that should be good I know thats not what put the water in the oil. just asking if that oil is good for the boat
