Milky Grey/white Gearcase Oil.

Just emptied the gearcase oil out of my 1985 115hp Evinrude, but oil was super milky grey and nasty. Could this be an issue with the sealing? If so, is it a job I can do on my own, or one for a shop?

You need to get the gearcase vacuum and pressure tested to see where the leak is coming from. Any decent shop can do the work, at a minimum you will save the investment, for slide hammers, snap ring pliers, pullers, pressure and vacuum testers etc.
 
Frequently the problem is either prop shaft seals or the shift rod seals and sometimes the drive shaft seal. On occasion you might find a bad gasket on the fill or drain screw that can allow water in the gearcase. Whatever the cause, as Fitz stated, a pressure and vacuum test is the best way to know for sure what is leaking.

Unfortunately, I reside in california but I am very grateful for the offer fitz, and could probably use the help. Ill try to figure it out but, I'll get back to this chat if I run into any difficulties.
