"I have a 2000 larson with a 4.3 mercuiser stern drive I had the lower gear case replaced resently by a marine mechanic ,he said he couldnt warrenty the work because putting a new lower on an old upper could posiably not seal properly . I took the boat out on the may long weekend , mayby put 2 hours on the boat I did what he told me to do for break in period checked gear oil in reservior and it was looking milky. the boat has about 105 hours on it what could it be thats causing this. please help"

Was the reservior drained during the work or the hose just pinched off? Drain 2 ounces of oil from the OD drain into a small jar and see if it has water in it.

Take it back and find out why the OD has a seal leak by having him perform a pressure test; it could be a defective lower unit seal.

james and if its the lower seal like guy suggested then he almost and should have to replace it for free. if he's the one who sold you the new lower unit
