Hi Guys,
I have acquired a mid 80's Mariner 2 Stroke 50hp - Serial 9492393 and I can get it to start.
I have installed new battery, and changed spark plugs, starting process was attach flush muffs, run hose, connect tank, 50:1 fuel mixture, connected tank and pumped pressure bulb until hard, choked twice, then start - starter motor runs fine and flywheel moves but wont start even after a few attempts.
Apologies for the nature of my question, but I am fairly new to boats and starting procedure etc, so maybe I am making a glaring error?
I have thought that possibly there was old 'varnish' in the carbs (engine hasnt been started since 2008) but I have got as far as removing four screws under cover and removed the air box, and what looks to be a side view of the carb unit is under there - anyone have any pointers on removing carbs for cleaning on this engine?
Thanks for your help guys,
John
