Mid 60s 4 cyl identfication

Mid 60s 4 cyl identfication.

NO top cowl, lower bowl, mid band / wrap, carbs or linkage. I bought it for a project boat, believing it was (advertised as) a Mark 55 on a 70s tower. I now have my doubts being the ser# on the clamp bkt tag and a number stamped into the D4 mag match.
Ser # 1868543
Number on the mag 5264.

.. I have my doubts now, being the serial number on the clamp bracket tag, and the number stamped into the bracket that supports the magneto to the power head, are both the same number.
