This engine seems to be useing more fuel than it did last year.Any ideas out there?Engine has 527 hours
on it.Never had any work done on it.Other than useing more fuel it starts on 2nd or 3rd pull and runs
great.Thinking of checking the valve adjustment if that may help.Is 3V1-01024-0 the correct part #
for the cylinder head cover gasket.
Thank you.

3V1010240M GASKET, HEAD COVER $5.13 is correct.

Fuel consumption should never exceed 1 gal/hr at WOT.

Excess valve lash would probably result in decreased fuel consumption, as the valves would then profile-in with less overall lift and duration. Poor fuel can result in running at higher throttle settings for the same performance, which could result in less fuel economy.

What is your consumption per hour?

Don't know gal/hr consumption.Run very little at WOT.A 3 gal.tank used to run me 3 to 4 days.Now its 2 to 3 days.
Think i will check the valve lash.Like i said it has 527 hrs.and never had anything done except oil and LU gear oil
changes.Do you have the gasket?
Thanks.
Jack.

Yes, in stock. If you seem to have a loss of power, you could check the lash. I would recommend having the proper tools to adjust the locknuts, and proper feeler gauges.

Have the tools.Need the gasket. How do i get one from your shop?

Paul,
Got the gasket, thanks for the quick service. The lash was withen specs for all valves.Am going to check the timing next.
Will an automotive timing light work on this engine?
Thanks again.
Jack.

Yes. An inductive timing light will work well. The advance is not adjustable -- it's programmed into the CD, but the initial timing is set by confirming the timing marks on the block, crank and cam pulleys.

You running ethanol Free ?

If you are running ethanol fuel the blender may be mixing in more than last year

Lots of variables waterlogged flotation foam , dinged prop , something causing drag somewhere ...
