MFS 20 oil drain plug torque

Book calls for 18 Lbs. Seems a bit high is that a misprint? I hear horror stories about stripped drain plugs How tight does everyone torque this bolt?

It needs to be pretty tight to seal the aluminum gasket. It's a big bolt... 5/8" head as I recall.

Thanks, should the aluminum gasket be replaced each oil change?
