"I have a 1976 Mercury 110 9.8

"I have a 1976 Mercury 110 9.8HP. The motor starts on the first pull and runs for 15-60 seconds and then quits. I have replaced the fuel hose and squeeze bulb , the fuel pump and the float, but the problem persists. Any ideas on what the problem could be?"

If it runs with the choke on check that the jets and ports in the carb are clean.
 
The carb has been cleaned twic

The carb has been cleaned twice without effect. If I squeez the bulb the motor will continue to run for a few more seconds.
 
sounds like you have an air le

sounds like you have an air leak somewhere in the fuel line.
 
check your vent screw on you g

check your vent screw on you gas tank make sure it's clear...blow through it and make sure....when older parts wear out...the screw might wobble and cut venting so gas will not flow at times...
