Hey guys from down under, I have twin Mercruiser 140hp on a houseboat, one of the motors has developed a problem over our summer period, the motor will start from cold and run for about 40 minutes then will splutter once and stall, after that It will not start again for about 20 minutes. So far I have run it with the engine box open to keep the heat out of the box, (but still stalled) after that I wrapped a wet towel around the fuel bowl (in case had vapour lock) but motor still wouldn't start, I have also varied the rev's during it's run time. The other motor is running fine on the same fuel line.
Any idea's ????
Regards,
Daryl.

Since the carb is mounted on the exhaust manifold, that's can be a problem with that motor. Mine did that as well. I used to open the doghouse when I stopped for a while to let the heat out, and let her run several minutes in neutral before shutting down.

You might try adding an insulating spacer under the carb.
