Mercury trim switch problem

I have a 1998 mercury 150 o/b. SERIAL #0G692755
The trouble i'm having is the trim switch at the controls. the motor goes down everytime i press the button but the up part works sometimes and then it stops. The button switch at the motor works fine. Could it be at the controls or the relay/solenoid in the motor.

you are in the evinrude forum ..need to open problem in the merc section....in an evinrude the relay operation is the same both on the motor and on the throttle controls...i would suspect you have a defective switch on the control handle.....some of the evinrudee switche on the controls are not perfectly sealed switches and can be taken apart and cleaned if you are extremely careful....small parts and easy to lose parts to the switch...

problem was diagnosed in merc forum by someone..it was switch on the control handle...
