Mercury pulse fuel pump question

Does the un-used pulse input need to be plugged.It is a fuel line attached to cowling, with a nipple on the end. There is a hole in it. Should the hole be there ? The pump is mounted to crankcase. It gets pulse from port , not the line. Thanks.

Thanks for your response. In the meantime I keep researching, and determined the "3rd" hose is used when remotely mounting pump. Once again..Thanks for response.

On the old 2 cylinders, only one pulse line was used.
