Hello,
I have a number of rental boats with Mercury outboards and have been looking at installing some kind of fuel meter to more accurately charge people for their fuel consumption. In the fleet of boats their are 6x 115hp Mercury outboards and 6x 150hp Mercury outboards, as well as 2x 90hp Mercury outboards. I purchased a few Mercury Smartcraft gauges that can plug into the engine and give information such as fuel consumption. The problem is that the wires have to be routed out the engine, and back into the boat somehow, which is very hard to do/impossible when the wires have such a big plug on them. Does anyone know of a device that can be plugged into the outboard that can track fuel usage but don't require a gauge being wired in outside the engine? (I'm thinking of something that either displays information wirelessly on another device, or something that can be left inside the engine cowling and I could check it each night from there) I've looked into VesselView Mobile but it looks like it would cost about $250 per engine and I don't really want to spend that much.
Thanks,
Hunter
