I have a 1999 135hp mercury optimax the other day I was on the water the engine ran great we did about 50 miles and then stopped for approx. 5hrs when it was time to leave the alarm went off on a continuous beep beep not the one that you get with low oil in the tank or water in the fuel. I shifted into forward and took off the alarm stopped. the motor was pumping water and it was warm so I am pretty sure it is not a thermostat problem. the charging system was putting 14.5 volts. when we returned to the dock approx. 50 miles the alarm came back on this time I tried to put it back in gear and run it around a little this time the motor de rated itself and wouldn't go above idle I Idled back to the dock turned it off pulled the cover off couldn't find anything wrong started it back up and it ran fine rode it another 20 miles with no issues took it home and when I flushed it no alarm. I have checked for loose wires the oil tanks are full both the remote and the internal I am using oil as the level in the tank drops
