ok i'm no expert when it c

ok i'm no expert when it comes to engines i know enough to get me by... i understand what each part does but i am not the best at troubleshooting....

i have a mercury 165 inboard... its a older model probably about 10 years old maybe... well the engine runs fine.. the problem is when i give it gas it bogs down... like its not getting the gas right.. i dont know if its the carburator or the fuel pump... we have been stuck a few times where we can only go a bit over idle to get back to the dock... we have sent it to shops but this time we wanna get to the bottom of it and find the problem... any help would be greatly appreciated

"Ayuh,......

It's reasonably safe to say you've got a Fuel Delivery Issue,.....
But,.....
Without Testing,.....
It's Impossible to say whether it's any 1 of the parts from the Fuel Tank to the Carb........"

Bondo is right. I'd start

Bondo is right. I'd start with changing all of the fuel filters; don't forget the one inside of the mech. fuel pump. Check the accellerator pump; it should give twin squirts of fuel. Make sure the choke is functioning properly. Give the engine a tuneup. Report back.
