Mercury Gen 2 4000 shifter

Trying to remove the shifter handle from the control box so I can mount it on the boat, but how do you remove the handle from the shifter box.

Look on the bottom of the handle.There should be an allen head set screw.J

no allen screw on bottom, I'm pretty sure the center button needs to be removed, but cant figure out how to do that.
