Mercury ELPTO50 dies at WOT

Hello, I have a 2006 Mercury ELPTO50 (2 stroke, carbureted).
I’ve had to do quite a bit of work to get it going again after sitting idle for a while. Fuel pump rebuild, timing adjustment, clean/adjust carbs. I’ve got it to where it runs pretty well up to about half throttle, but if I push it beyond that it will do fine for maybe 10 seconds or so, then start to lose RPM until it dies. Do you think I’m due for a full carb rebuild, or is there anything else that could be the issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Does the engine have an onboard fuel filter? If so change it and cut the old one open and investigate the contents. Your fuel tank vent could be clogged. When you have the problem squeeze the bulb on the fuel line a few times and see if it recovers. If so, the fuel pump isn't pumping properly or you have cracked/clogged fuel lines preceding the pump in the fuel flow process....a check valve in your squeeze bulb could be clogged. If you find any tan hard candy consistency chips in your fuel lines time to replace them all....Not sure of the source...may be fuel or may be the supply fuel line but I have had the problem on a couple of 2002 engines (after 10 years) running ethanol. Didn't have on the one run on gasoline......over the years

Thanks for the reply! I'll check it out this weekend. I run non-ethanol and I've already replaced the filter, primer-bulb, and the fuel line from the top of the tank to the quick connect on the engine cover, but it wouldn't be the first time something failed immediately after replacement. Thanks!
