Mercury Classic 50 (fails to start)

I have a 1983 Mercury Classic 50 I took to boot around the lake yesterday, worked fine for almost all day. Stopped at the middle of the lake to fish and attempt to fire it up. Motor just kept on cranking but didn't catch so i end up having to paddle back to shore. Took the boat home and took off the covers. Nothing unusual, spark plugs looks good ( haven't check compression thou ), any idea guys?

Any advice would be good.

Did your gas hoses lose it's prime? I've had them lose their prime and once I primed it up again it ran like a charm. I'm not expert btw so take my advice with a grain of sand.
