"Ok, I need help. I'm a first time boat owner and did what I thought was the right thing and took it to a mechanic to have it checked out before I went on the water. It is an older cabnin cruiser with a '85 mecury black max 150 on it. Everything checked out, including compression. I took it out and found that it would not run at idle speed. I took it back to the mech and was told that I lost my number two cylinder. How could this be? I took it out three times and lost a cylinder? Now I'm looking at having to rebuild it. Any info would be helpful."

"carbs where dirty, mechanic should have told you to clean them, or the carb got dirty after he worked on it. No fuel means no oil=blown engine"
