Mercury 99 four stroke running louder

New mercury 9.9 big foot with

New mercury 9.9 big foot with power tilt and trim is running much louder after 22 hours and recent oil change. Initially the motor was very quite. Now it is getting much louder. Any ideas?

"Charli, I think the engine is getting louder. I don't know much about the engine but it could be the muffler I don't know how to identify really but if I compare it to a car then it is suttle like when you have a small how in the muffler the engine is just noisier."

Not much to go by there Linda. Has the position of the motor been changed allowing the exhuast to be closer to the surface of the water? More weight in the front of the boat maybe. It's just to hard to tell without hearing it if you know what I mean.
Hope you find the cause.
 
No the position has not change

No the position has not changed We were a little low on oil before I changed it but cannot find anything wrong with the way it runs except it is louder. Were is the exhause and what effects the sound. Can it get clogged? The motor is on a power tilt so we can make sure it is fully in the water.

"Not sure of where the exhuast is on the 4 stroke but most outboards it is either through the center of the prop or just above it. There could also be an exit just under the engine in the drive housing.
If you can, remove the cover and see if there is a loose bolt or something that could make the noise."
 
I could not locate the exhaust

I could not locate the exhaust but it does sound as though it it louder. I did not find any loose bolts. If it is the exhaust what would you recommend?
