"Me again, I also want to change the oil in the shaft, do I need to tip this motor on its side to get the grease out?"

"No. Standing up is best. Remove BOTH plugs (and don't confuse the top plug with the flushing plug) and zap it with some compressed air. Lacking that, just let the sucker drip overnight.

PS: Save and pay strict attention to what comes out, like water, metal chips, etc."

"I have pulled the bottom plug and the oil is real merky, do i add new oil in the flush plug because I dont see any other plug screw on the top. Thanks for your help."

"The flush plug is to send water through the power head, to cleanse it of salt water.

Look for a tiny screw near the cavitation plate. That's the top vent.

"Bill, depending where you live "merky" may be the best you can hope for.

Up north where I am, because we go through drastic temp changes -30 in the winter, upto 100 in the summer, it's almost impossible to keep a gear case completely sealed - just too much contraction/expansion.

Run some new oil for a couple months and then check it out. If it never gets worse than "milky" looking, it may not be worth resealing the lower - I just keep the oil changed every year and I haven't chewed a gear yet..."
