Help!
A friend bought a very gently used 2003 Merc 9.9 bigfoot long shaft. I went over to help him check all the oils and whatnot.
There is a long hose coming out of the topside of the cylinder head and then out the side of the bottom half of the cowling. This is where I would expect to see a hose adapter style flushing mechanism on some motors. When we run the motor with muffs, water gets pumped through this hose at full flow. There is also water coming from the tell.
Hours of searching finds me no closer to an answer on what this is. There doesn't appear to be a top flush option on this motor. No diagrams make mention of it. And comparing to videos of the same motor/area I see no hose like this. It is shown below, the hose coming directly above the dip stick
