I had a valve job done on the cyl head and put it all back together but feeling a bit of apprehension -
service manual says put engine at tdc by lining up flywheel mark with block mark. That part I’ve verified is accurate and straightforward.
Service manual says line up the camshaft pin (with blue line) with a particular link on timing chain. The link is orange and has blue line in center. I’ve lined up the blue line of sprocket to the blue line on this link of the chain.
Where I’m feeling apprehensive is the service manual says that this chain and sprocket line should be at 9o clock position when flywheel is set to tdc. I’ve gotten it both to this position sort of the 9 o’clock sprocket and chain line is not exactly 9’oclock.
Furthermore I’d expect that line up to happen every other full sprocket revolution but it doesn’t. I have no way of checking the timing at the crank because I did all this without pulling the engine. So crank isn’t exposed. I have turned the engine manually and don’t notice any interference. I haven’t fired it up yet.
I’d appreciate any advice and thoughts.
