Hi - I have just acquired a mid 1970's mercury 650 outboard motor - can anyone advise how I remove the engine cover ? Thanks Dermot

There is a knob on the front cover,turn 90 degrees,pull towards you,cover comes off, revels two clips,grab solid bit ,pull towards you,wrap around comes off,clip under hood, pull towards you,lift top cover off.If it doesn't,I'm thinking of the wrong motor.
