Mercury 50 HP EFI decelaration problem

I have a 2002 Mercury 50 hp EFI outboard. Recently, I was cruising along at 3/4 throttle and the engine just decelerated on its own. The engine did not stop running, but just slowed down. After a minute the engine accelerated on its own. After a few minutes it happened again. I took off the fuel filter and I blew through it without a problem. ANY ideas?

Had the same issue. I finally replaced the fuel line from the tank, primer bulb, and gas coupler. The regular gas used had deteriorated the line and also the coupler that attaches the line to the motor causing it to collapse at higher speeds. Once that was replaced I had no more issues.
