Mercury 50 HP, 3 cyl. Lower Unit rebuild

Can anyone offer counsel as to what a fair charge might be to replace the seals in a lower unit? I can remove it and deliver it to a shop but just don't have time or tools for the job.

Depending "which seals" will dictate "how long" (= how much).

If you are simply looking at the propshaft seals (and those around the bearing carrier) you may be looking at an hours labour plus parts. If you add in shift shaft seals, and drive shaft seals you can easily add a couple hours to that. That could make the difference between a 100 dollar (plus parts) and a 300 dollar (plus parts).

Normally a shop will start with a pressure test to figure out "which seal(s)" are bad and quote from there...
