Mercury 50 Bogging down help?

Hi all, new to this so any help would be appreciated, recently bought a 14ft speedboat with a old mercury 50hp 2 stroke outboard, engine idles fine and goes into gear fine but when you give it throttle it slowly bogs down then dies. However if whilst its bogging you press the choke then it darts off and its fine. Once your moving 8mph plus it runs fine no problems its just the initial bit of throttle that kills it. Due to it working once you choke it slightly im thinking fuel starvation at that rev range any common problems or things to look for. Thanks Sam

Correct. Look for a slotted screw head on the upper left side of each carb.

Jeff

PS: Pay attention when you do this! A 1/4 turn each and no more--unless it still bog. Then ad another 1/4 turn (and that's OUT--CCW).
