Hello,

first of all .. sorry my english, i am german and i cant find any help here in Germany.
My Name is Christian and i have a Mercury/Mariner 1995 40 hp 2 cyl 2 stroke outbourd on my boat.

on my last trip, the engine stopped when i pull the throttle from full to zero .. and it did not started again.

no spark on both cylinders.
i tested the Stator with resitance check: 550 ohms
i tested the trigger : 1200 ohms

somebody said to me "it must be the TPM", so i ordered one in USA, yesterday i installed it ..... still no spark.
i am almost hopeless to get my engine running again.

when i installed the TPM, i tried to start the engine for 5-10 seconds, and then i saw, that i forgot to put the plug connectors on the spark plugs.
is it possible that this destroyed the new TPM?
(i tink i readed something like that, but i cannot find it anymore in internet ..)

thnx for any help!

I know this may sound silly but first make sure the emergency lanyard is attached to the control. Next I would check the cdm'S

i made the mistake with the lanyard before :) and spend 1 hour by trying to start my engine ...

but this time it is connected :(
how could i test CDM?
there are 3 cables connected to each like this:

i have multimeter,
is it possible to check the Voltage that arrives at CDM?
and which cables would i have to check ?
i guess there must arrive 260 - 300v from stator / TPM, right?

Thank you for that link!
i think i found the correct pages, but i am not completly sure.
Based on cable colors (green white, white green) of stator i THINK that this is my machine:
"Mercury/Force 1994 - 2006 using CDM" (page 85)
Serial of engine is: 0G195584

may be somebody can help me finding the right pages in this manual?

i tried to test DVA of Stator..
* Disconnected from the TPM it gives 190V (spec says 180 - 400), so ok ..
* if i connect them .. it gives 15V, this is very low ..

The manual now says "At least one CDM is broken".
For testing the CDMs it gives some tests for resistance.
But i dont understand ...
there i can read:

CDM Pin # A, B, C, D

what are theese pins?
As you can see in upper pictures, my CDMs are connected with connector with 3 Cables.
Black/yellow; white; green/white

how can i test resistance here?

does both Cylinders loose the spark if only ONE CDM is broken?

thank you!
