"As the post suggests, I'm having some trouble with my motor - 1982 25hp. She ran progressively worse for me last year, but right now I can't even that from her...winterized the best I could without being able to start
I replaced stator last year, saw that the trigger was cracked (from boneheaded use of the flywheel puller on my part) so I replaced it too. I've checked all wires and grounds - all seem fine - and have a spark at 7/16" gap with a tester.
Compression is around 90 for both cylinders.
I can get it darn close to starting, but it more or less just coughs. If it was my old Chevy, I'd be punching the gas...it just won't get up and run. Plugs are wet when I pull 'em...
I have disconnected the kill switch, still no go.
I'm guessing on a timing/sync issue, more or less because that seems to be all that's left to be wrong.
Any/all help is appreciated. Thanks.
