Ok folks, I am new at this and just bought my first boat and new motor, at 60+ lol. Any way bought a new 20 hp Mercury motor with tiller handle, was the only one left in stock and was told it was easy to convert it to the remote setup already in my 200 dollar boat project. Not true as I am finding out, I am a retired veteran on a budget and can not afford another 700 bucks for this so any help would be appreciated. Ok so with my question, is there a easy way or aftermarket or used parts way to get my remote cables hooked up to this motor so it will shift and throttle work.
Here is what I have and already got going.
My motor is a Mercury 20 hp 2 cyl 4 stroke (2014) model 1-f20311ek SN or583645
I also have a new Quick silver throttle/shift control, no trim and also have the right cables. Model rc 881170a16 rev m
I have already hooked up the steering from boat to motor and all electrical to the remote and works fine, just need the throttle and shift parts for inside the motor.
Thanks folks and sorry for the long winded story.
