revs out, in neutral, or in gear, with muffs on real well; but once in water takes about 300 metres to get on plane. It has new plugs, coil ok and have checked carby. Any ideas what else to try? Is it fuel or electrical? Thanks

Most motors will wind up in the driveway because there is no " work to do "---------------------Start with a compression test and then check to see if you have spark that will jump a gap of 3/8" on all cylinders.

Is this a new problem on this boat? If not, it might simply be a prop issue--too much pitch for the application.

Took carby off again, cleaned it with carby cleaner, put it back on, went out on water, went like a dream first up, for 20 mins, roughly, straight up on the plane. After backing off, a few times and revving up again, it started to play up again as it took 3-5 mins to get up on the plane. Every now and then it would come good. Also have done compression test - 125 good, has new plugs, good jumping spark. Does this mean I haven't cleaned the carby properly or could it be something else? Sounds like carby to me, sick of pulling carby off!

Sounds like you missed someting inside there. I soak my "carbies" for several days in carb cleaner to get those tiny passages clean, then rod them out with a wire and blast them with compressed air.

yep always run a new fuel tank and lines and run to the fuel pump and bypass the filter
if the motor runs perfect the problem lies where you plugged into the motor back
yes it is the carbs and do not soak them ever in carb cleaner, there is no need for it
what you use is an ultrasonic cleaner with hot water, vinegar and dawn soap
then you rinse with water and use compressed air to clean it out
i always rebuild carbs and never clean them
